Best sown directly in spring where they are to grow and flower to get the biggest, most productive plants. Can also be sown in cell trays, just cover lightly with vermiculite. Plant out after the last frost. Needs temperatures of around 15° - 20° C to germinate readily. The birds love to eat the ripe seeds. Lovely to leave some heads standing as natural bird feeders for them into the autumn.
