These poppies do not like being disturbed, so it's best to direct sow in spring. Benefits from light to germinate, so surface sow, or very lightly cover with compost. You can start under cover in autumn; just be extra gentle when transplanting. They benefit from the cold stratification of winter, so pre-chill seeds if starting them under cover. Let them grow on in cooler temperatures.
