Quick growing and usually fast germination. Start sowing in early spring. Benefit from warmth at around 21°C to speed up germination. They need light to germinate so barely cover with compost, or leave them uncovered and use a propagator lid to stop the surface from drying out. Make a few sowings a few weeks apart to have successional flowers. Can be direct sown once the weather and soil have warmed.
